| This race, the 71st renewal (not 81st as shown on the racecard) of the Eclipse Stakes, was staged at Sandown Park on Saturday 6th July 1968, and was won by 1967 Epsom Derby winner Royal Palace (SR 2031), beating 1967 2000 Guineas runner-up Taj Dewan and 1968 Epsom Derby winner Sir Ivor (SR 2092) by a short head and 3/4 of a lengths. | |||||||||
